Golazo

Sustainability

At Golazo, sustainability is a fundamental part of our mission. We are committed to the United Nations Global Compact and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This means that all our projects and services are aligned with these goals, and we place a strong focus on equality and inclusion, sustainability, and good governance.

Sustainable Development Goals

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals

Diversity and inclusion form a crucial pillar in our pursuit of a healthier and happier society. We believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities, regardless of gender, beliefs, skin colour, sexual orientation or physical abilities.

Golazo is at the forefront of sustainability in mass participation events in Europe and beyond (including Africa). We are committed to raising awareness among our participants and continuously work to make our events more sustainable.

This is a joint effort between us as organisers, our partners and our participants. In addition, Golazo is one of the founding partners of the Good Work Goals, an initiative of the Antwerp Management School through which we strive, among other things, for a more sustainable workplace and a positive impact on our environment.

Lignaverda tree-planting initiative

Lignaverda

We support Lignaverda (Entrepreneurs Without Borders), a partner in the Great Green Wall initiative. The project focuses on reforesting areas threatened by land degradation and desertification, while placing the well-being of local communities at the centre: creating employment, promoting local entrepreneurship and supporting socio-economic activities.

In partnership with Golazo Energy, the Lignaverde Sports Challenge encourages employees to walk, run, or cycle. For every kilometre covered, we plant a tree, and you can see your impact instantly in the app.

Golazo waste reduction loop: pre-event, during the event, post-event

Key sustainability initiatives

Tap-water hydration

We replace single-use bottles with tap-water-fed hydration zones. Cups and bottles are refilled directly from the public water supply, reducing plastic waste and transport emissions.

Green energy

Where possible, we power our events with battery packs, solar panels and biodiesel. These solutions reduce noise, emissions and our overall ecological footprint.

Waste reduction

We minimise waste through clearly marked recycling zones and cleaning and plogging actions. Reusable materials play a key role: T-shirts from recycled plastics, reusable bottles, low-impact medals, … Suppliers and fans commit to our sustainability charter.

Low-carbon mobility

Mobility is a major focus. We encourage public transport, provide extensive bike parking and integrate electric vehicles into our event operations to reduce CO₂ emissions.
